Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has categorically denied allegations of fund neglect leveled by the Kerala government. In a recent statement, she asserted that the central government has been promptly releasing funds to Kerala for various development projects and infrastructure initiatives.
Sitharaman countered the state government's claims by pointing out that the delays in fund disbursement, if any, were primarily due to Kerala's failure to adhere to the prescribed guidelines and submit the requisite documentation. She emphasized that the central government remains committed to ensuring the timely release of funds for Kerala's development.
The Finance Minister highlighted the central government's consistent support for Kerala, citing various initiatives such as the Special Assistance for Capital Investment (SACI) scheme, under which the center bears the interest cost of 50-year loans provided to states. She also mentioned the central government's approval of various projects under the Kerala Infrastructure Development Fund (KIDF).
Sitharaman urged the Kerala government to work in collaboration with the center to expedite the development process and ensure the timely completion of projects for the betterment of the state's citizens. She reiterated the central government's commitment to supporting Kerala's development aspirations.
